EMS Software 508 Compliance

Overview

The Rehabilitation Act of 1973 is the precursor to what is now known as The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act, which was amended and strengthened in 1998, dictates that the “electronic and information technology” of Federal agencies must be accessible to people with disabilities, including employees and the public. For more information on Section 508, please see www.section508.gov.

Our Products

Having achieved full Section 508 compliance for our web-based products (EMS Master Calendar and Virtual EMS) in 2003, we were among the first facility scheduling and web calendar software companies to do so. Today, we continue to update our systems to keep pace with advances in technology and changes to the legislation itself by adopting the World Wide Web Consortium's® (W3C) Web Accessibility Initiative for Accessible Rich Internet Applications.

Our Website

While our corporate website is not technically covered by Section 508 regulations, we continue to fine tune the display of information, the navigation and other elements to provide users with disabilities with a completely obstruction-free experience.

Our Stance

Although it is mandated by Section 508, our compliance with accessibility regulations is driven by our belief that making our software as accessible as possible to all users – those with and without disabilities – is the right thing to do.
